Frequently Asked Questions
What therapy dog training options are available for Gilbert dog owners?
The dedicated Therapy Dog Preparation program includes eight weekly lessons. Basic Obedience, Basic + Advanced, or Board & Train may be considered when a dog needs additional foundational training, but these programs do not replace therapy-specific preparation.
How long does therapy dog training take?
Therapy Dog Preparation runs for eight weeks with eight weekly lessons. Basic Obedience runs for four weeks, while Basic + Advanced runs for eight weeks. The appropriate duration depends on the selected program and the dog’s starting point.
Does the training include ongoing support?
The current Therapy Dog Preparation listing does not specify lifetime refreshers or other ongoing support. The standard Two-Week Board & Train lists a two-hour owner session and lifetime refreshers. Ask the team to confirm support for your selected program.
Can training help with aggression or reactivity?
Separate aggression programs focus on obedience, desensitization, management, and owner control. They do not guarantee that aggression will disappear or that a dog will qualify for therapy work.
