Frequently Asked Questions
Do all programs use an e-collar?
No. Basic Obedience, Basic + Advanced, standard Two-Week Board & Train, and aggression-focused programs list e-collars as part of their equipment or training. Basic Marker Mastery™ uses reward-based marker and clicker methods, while Puppy Board & Train emphasizes positive reinforcement for crate and potty routines. Ask the Phoenix team about methods and equipment before enrolling.
How long does dog training take?
Program timelines vary: Basic Obedience takes four weeks; Basic + Advanced, Aggressive Dog Training, and Therapy Dog Preparation take eight weeks. Standard and puppy Board & Train last two weeks. Aggression Board & Train adds four weekly lessons after boarding, while Basic Marker Mastery™ takes four weeks. Continued owner practice is important for maintaining skills after the program.
Can training completely fix aggression or reactivity?
No training program can guarantee a complete fix for serious aggression or reactivity toward dogs or people. Aggression-focused options aim to improve obedience, owner control, safe handling, and behavior management. Progress varies with each dog’s history, triggers, behavior severity, and owner follow-through. Share your dog’s full behavior and bite history with the Phoenix team before enrolling.
What does the standard Two-Week Board & Train guarantee include?
The standard Two-Week Board & Train lists six guaranteed commands: Sit, Place, Heel, Down, one advanced command, and Off. It also advertises full off-leash recall and lifetime refresher sessions. Some commands include duration or walking requirements. Ask the Phoenix team to explain the current written guarantee, eligibility criteria, and exactly what refresher support covers before enrolling.
